In therapy I will work with you to understand and address the heart of the things you are struggling with so that you can work towards a brighter future and build a life that has time and space for you to do more of what’s important to you. We will do this by introducing you to ways of looking at yourself and your experiences that might shed a new light on who you are, leading to new ways of being with yourself and the world. We will draw on theory and research to do this, and all of the work we do will be personalised and tailored to you, based on an understanding of what’s important to you and what might be helpful.
Our therapy work might only take a few sessions, with the flexibility for you to come back should you need to. We could also agree to work for specific number of sessions, over a few weeks or months, to allow time and space to explore different possibilities about what therapy approaches might work for you and give you the chance to try them out.
My main areas of work are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-based approaches, Compassion Focused Therapy and CBT.
For people interested in teaching and supervision services
In my wider work I am an experienced teacher and workshop leader. Mountain Therapies would welcome opportunities to discuss providing educational and training sessions for you, your group or your organisation.
I am also a very experienced clinical supervisor, and put your specific developmental needs at the heart of our supervision process. A supervision agreement could be short term, linked to a specific identified need, or longer term as preferred.
Examples of short term supervision:
Development of a specific ACT or CBT skill to help working with an individual client
To meet the requirements for BABCP Practitioner Accreditation by, for example;
Providing a specific number of clinical supervision hours
Rating audio and video recordings of clinical therapy sessions
Marking CBT Case Studies, including Verbally Presented Case Studies
To provide consultation and advice on clinical formulations for clients with complex mental health problems
Examples of longer term supervision are :
Providing supervision for participants in CBT training courses that lead to accreditation
To support clinical staff in the developing their understanding of, and competence in, of a range of evidence based therapies
To support staff and clinical teams in working with complex issues

I offer a calm and welcoming space for therapy that hopefully feels safe to work on whatever you want to bring.
I’ve worked in a range of NHS services as a CBT Therapist for the last 9 years, particularly working with PTSD, complex developmental trauma, anxiety and long-term health conditions. I value the diversity and effectiveness of both CBT and EMDR in addressing a range of difficulties and would be keen to offer a kind, collaborative environment to work out the best approach together.
Other work experience includes teaching CBT for Complex Mental Health for 4 years on SHSC’s postgraduate diploma and teaching on Long Term Conditions for Sheffield Uni due to previous work roles with Diabetes, Persistent Physical Symptoms and Birth Trauma. My background before that was in domestic and sexual abuse services and Health Communications (particularly Parenting).
In addition to qualification and accreditation in CBT and EMDR, I also completed an MSc in Developmental Psychology and have done additional training in therapy for long-term conditions, traumatic brain injury, autism and neurodevelopmental differences.
Experience shows that people are usually doing their best in difficult circumstances. Whatever approach we would take, our aim would be to understand, develop kinder perspectives and do more in the world that follows your passions. In effect, building confidence in yourself. I’m a therapist for the joy of seeing people’s ability to overcome suffering and make lasting changes towards things they care about.
