We all need support sometimes
Often as human beings, our difficulties are complicated and can be understood in lots of different ways. Research into mental health conditions, and therefore the criteria and treatments for different problems, evolve and update all the time. Some people find it valuable and validating to have things they struggle with understood in recognised ways. It can also help to access treatments. Others people don’t find this helpful and would prefer to have a more individual focus.
Therefore our therapists will help conceptualise and map out problems together with you and focus on your priorities. We call this ‘formulation’ and this is informed by the evidence base and clinical guidance such as the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
For a formal diagnosis of a mental health problem you would usually need to see a Psychiatrist or ask your GP for a referral to a specialist service. But you don’t need a formal diagnosis to access therapy for identified problems. Your therapist can help you with understanding emotional difficulties and unhelpful patterns so you can work out together how to address these differently. This will be alongside a focus of working towards your goals in life and changes you want to make. You can email us at mountaintherapies@outlook.com and either ask for free 15 minute phone call to discuss options or, if you already know what you want, to book sessions for treatments.
